Day 4: 100 Days Challenge

4. What was your first episode of Supernatural?

Croatoan 2x09 was my first episode. I had heard about the show and seen commercials, but it was on a night I was usually busy and hadn't thought much of it or bothered to tape it. I happened to catch Croatoan one of the nights I wasn't busy and instantly fell for the show.

I love dark shows and movies, anything about monsters or aliens or serial killers or just plain dark characters. So yeah, it wasn't hard to fall in love with the show.

I caught up pretty quickly and haven't stopped since. Of course the fact that pretty much everybody on the show was hot did have some influence. Meg #1, John, Dean, and Sam were all among the really fuckin' hot characters that I looked forward to watching each week.

I started writing a Supernatural fanfic shortly after Nightshifter 2x12 aired. It begins directly following the episode. It has sat on my hard drive for years, being added to every once in a while, and it's currently at around 100,000 words. Once of these days I'll post it. I named it Dreamweaver just recently, and I'm pretty sure it's done, I just need to do a final edit.

Something that really pulled me in was the music. Not just what Dean liked, but what played during intense scenes. I remember watching Folsom Prison Blues 2x19 and I almost forgot to breathe when Rooster by Alice in Chains played. I think I drooled.

I watched SPN from the start when it aired in the UK, a few of my US flisties had gotten me a little interested with fic and meta, but this season one promo with The Killing Moon kind of cemented the deal, it looked gorgeous and kind of creepy and i loved the music. (the season 2 promo with Don't Fear The Reaper was even better) I hated when the free-to-air channel in the UK dropped it in favour of Vampire Diaries, as I don't have Sky, so had to find torrents or wait for the DVDs. It's back on a free channel now, but a year behind -- though they've finally given a UK release date for the season 9 dvds which makes me happy.

I think the first fic i wrote was after Faith (kinky electro-porn) but it sat on my hard drive for a while, and the first one I actually posted was hooker fic set pre-show.

Those promos are awesome! I hadn't seen those before. And I'm cracking up over the electro-porn after Faith. I hadn't thought of it and I really don't know why after that episode!! :D

Ugh, I just did a quick calculation of unposted fic on my laptop and it's around 620,000 words (and I'm pretty sure I've got more stuff on my desktop). I've been writing for years and only recently have felt comfortable posting. Some of that fic is finished, some of it not.

I signed up for the DCBB this year, hoping to push myself into writing non-prompted fic. Maybe it'll encourage me to post some of the older stuff I've got :)
