evan doesn't wanna do that
Jan. 24th, 2019 03:26 pmAfter the remodel, the room that we made for piercing shares a wall with the area where we keep the jewelry and other piercing supplies. We didn’t work super hard at insulating it, so you can kinda hear what people are saying on the other side of the wall.
Evan likes to bitch. Loudly. And the other day he was in a bad mood because he was doing a big tattoo and stopped for a quick changeout on a piece of jewelry, which turned into 7 pieces the woman wanted changed instead of the one she told me.
So he loudly bitched about her in the supplies area.
Today I told him about how it’s not insulated and to be careful of what you say around that area. He was like, “Yeah I know. She deserved to be bitched out because she wanted all those things changed out!”
I’m like where the fuck did this come from?
So I said, “No don’t treat customers like that.”
“But I bitch them out to their faces!”
I explained that yes, you do, but the way you do it in a sarcastic and charming way makes them think you’re joking, so they don’t take offense, but bitching them out behind their back in the next room to another person, that’s not the same thing AT ALL and can lead to customers thinking we’re mean. Same thing when I hand you the phone and you start bitching about how you’re busy.
It was like a foreign concept to him and I’m just still like o_O
How long have you worked here? How have we treated customers all along?! And you just think that’s okay?! Is this why the tattoo side ratings keep coming up with these random 1-3 star reviews with no comments and we can’t figure out what they’re from?! (which makes me SO GLAD we separated the sides because I have a 5-star review on the supply side)
So now he’s all bummed that I won’t let him bitch customers out behind their back.
It’s times like these that I wonder if it’s me. I know I don’t think the way everybody else does, and having someone look so clueless about something and like the thought never occurred to them that it was wrong, well, it makes me question my view of it a bit. But this one just really seems like SO OBVIOUS that you shouldn’t do it.
I don’t question myself for long. It’s more of a fleeting moment of WTF.
