this is my year

mom: your birthday is coming up soon

me: yeah this is the one

mom: huh?

me: 2 years ago I decided this would be my year. I got braces that the dentist said would come off in 2 years, I was losing weight, feeling better, doing better, and I was in the process of selling the shop, so by this upcoming birthday I was like okay I’m gonna start traveling, visit friends I’ve met online, see stuff, and do things I didn’t get to do when I was a teenager and in my 20s because mental illness sucks

mom: oh well yeah the last year and a half has changed a lot of plans

me: yeah now I’m still working constantly, my braces will probably fall off before they are taken off and my teeth will go back to where they were, and screw eating right and exercising I’m just eating what I want

mom: that doesn’t sound very positive

me: I didn’t say it was POSITIVE

mom: *trying very hard not to laugh but snorting anyway as she tries to hide under a pillow*
