scam or extra paranoia?

UPS sent me a “cancellation of incentives program” notice yesterday, so I wrote back immediately and said, “Nope, I didn’t ask for a change or cancellation so why did you send this?”

A woman wrote back and said this dude named Fabio asked her to do it, so I emailed him. He said, “Oh sorry it was an automated thing you got and I didn’t mean to do that I’m just new to your account, but in order to remedy this let’s set up a time I can come to your shop to talk about it.”

If it was a mistake or automated, why does this need to be discussed further? Why does he need to come to my shop to do this? UPS doesn’t list its employees like other places do, so I can’t even check to see if he really works there, but his email didn’t come up in any scam forums during a search.

Most of my customers don’t even like UPS because they charge too much.

Then a dude shows up at my front door saying he’s here to talk to my mom about supplemental insurance because she’s about to turn 65. First of all why the fuck are you showing up at my door?! You didn’t make an appointment and both you and your employees have been harassing my mom with tons of phone calls over the past few weeks, so I guess when that didn’t work you thought you’d just come knock on my door?!

I even said, “You come to people’s houses?!” His reply was, “Yeah well you know how phones are nowadays. They don’t work.” No dude. People are ignoring you. The phones work fine.

If I want your services, I’ll contact you. Don’t be creepy, dude.

With my shop, that’s how it’s always been. If someone is bugging me and offering their services it’s either a scam or they’re trying to get me locked into something at a high price hoping I don’t realize I can do it cheaper elsewhere.

When I search out places for a service, it’s legit because I’m calling the company direct. If a company tries really hard to reach out to me, my scam radar goes off.

So yeah, people are setting off my scammy senses today and I don’t like it. Besides, my mom is doing this manic thing today which usually means a seizure is coming soon, so that’s just what I need is some dude talking her into something while she’s not in her right mind.

OTOH it could just be that I’m being more paranoid the last few days.

Either way, people need to get off my front porch!
