I would HIGHLY recommend not hiring family/friends. It's so much easier to fire somebody who sucks that you don't know well than to try and beg/threaten/whatever your family into doing things even when the money we bring in pays their bills.
Hopefully you don't have to deal with any of that ever. I wish I hadn't gotten into this and that I just worked for somebody else again. I miss clocking in, working hard, then forgetting about it in between and getting regular paychecks :(
