31,408 boxes

That’s how many boxes of information my mom and I went through one-by-one to overhaul the POS system.
She would read off a box, I’d check it against the POS system info, fix it if incorrect, then we’d move on to the next box.
Saturday night WE FINISHED HAND-CONFIRMING 31,408 BOXES OF INFORMATION so that the online store and in-store POS system could talk with each other.
I didn’t realize it was that many boxes until we were finished and my dad was like hey so how much info was that?
His jaw dropped when I told him how many lines and columns there were. He whipped out his iPhone and asked Siri how much 2416 x 13 was and we all just sat there with our mouths agape when she told us the answer.
Now I move on to setting up the new computer with the updated POS system and connecting it with a remote PC program so I can work on it from home.
The last step is for my mom and I to overhaul the SEO on the online store.
Once we get that done, we’re ready to present the business to potential buyers.
And we made a pact that one of us will get upset if the new buyers don’t give a shit about the systems we’re fixing up. If they have their own system, oh well. At least we had a presentable system to show them :D
And if anyone ever asks why we need some sort of universal system that allows communication between proprietary programs, send them to me. This isn’t the first time I’ve hand-corrected thousands of lines of info.
