some cute news

Charlie (my uncle) and Marissa (his wife) were on vacation two weeks ago and went through Texas. They stopped at The Alamo, and while there, Marissa leaned over to look down a well and snagged her necklace, which broke and fell down the well.
The pendant on the necklace was a little white gold motorcycle that Carol and I bought Marissa as a wedding present when she and Charlie got married over 15 years ago. Marissa was so upset about it that she just burst into tears.
She calmed herself down and the two of them took a picture of it down in the well and sent it to us. Stuff like that happens, so they moved on and left, but she teared up a little when she told me about it.
Charlie didn’t tell her, but once he got back home, he contacted somebody at The Alamo and told them the situation. He asked them if it would be at all possible to get it out, that if it was dangerous or a big deal not to worry about it and that’s the way things go if they couldn’t get it.
The people were able to get it and it came in the mail today. Charlie told her to cover her eyes, put it around her neck, and had her open her eyes. She started crying all over again when he told her it wasn’t a replacement, but it was her actual pendant from the well.
She just sent me a pic of her wearing it, and it’s on a much thicker necklace than before.
As a side note, Marissa is known for losing things like that. She’s lost not one, but two cell phones in port-o-potties while we were at concerts. She leaned over to look into the ocean and lost her sunglasses. And many more stories. So I’m actually surprised that this is the first time the little motorcycle pendant has been lost like that :D
